Swedish Society for Surgery of the Hand
Hand Surgery was established as an independent specialty in Sweden in 1969. The Swedish Society for Surgery of the Hand (SHF) was founded as a membership society in 1973. SHF welcomes members who are board-certified Hand Surgeons, residents-in-training, as well as other physicians and researchers with a particular interest in the field of hand surgery. SHF currently has about 150 registered members.
Since 1983, SHF is the official organization for hand surgery within the Swedish Society for Medicine (Svenska Läkaresällskapet). SHF is also part of the Scandinavian Society for Surgery of the Hand (SSSH), as well as the European (FESSH) and International (IFSSH) federations for hand surgery.
The purpose of the Swedish Society for Surgery of the Hand is to promote the clinical and scientific advancement of hand surgery in Sweden.
